Mikayla Preston, Experience the People

Mikayla Preston is a multi media artist (visual & recording) from Cleveland, Ohio and the Founder and President of EXPERIENCE THE PEOPLE CAMPAIGN. This project merges Mikayla’s passions for art expression, activist work and community collaboration. She believes that creators have the power to impact communities by sharing experiences through art forms that shed lights on community topics, creating awareness, and space for conversations about these topics - even when they sometimes feel uncomfortable. Mikayla’s goal is to create a safe space for artists to create works that touch on these topics and engage with the community. Because of the Ignite! Impact Award, Mikayla was able to host a pop up showcase event to gather artists to raise money to build an online and in-person gallery where art and community outreach programming and other related events will be hosted.
