Each spring, Ingenuity Cleveland unites and showcases the region’s artists, makers, and creatives with its annual fundraiser Bal . . . be a part of the dream!
The theme for Ingenuity’s 2019 fundraiser is the Dreamer’s Bal – the surreal creation of a living daydream – which will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 8:00pm until 1:00am (May 5) at IngenuityLabs in the Hamilton Collaborative (5401 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland). The event will support the annual 20,000-attendee IngenuityFest as well as Ingenuity’s year-round arts and entrepreneurship programs, drawing talent from the enthusiastic year-round community served by these activities. Attendees of this year’s Bal will step into an ethereal landscape of subconscious hopes and aspirations once latent or ignored, brought to fruition by larger-than-life art installations, immersive music and dance performances, and some engaging surprises! Headlined by Cleveland’s New Orleans style favorite, Revolution Brass Band, the Bal will present a mix of jazz, funk, swing and more. With Moustache Yourself, Get Hep Swing, pole and aerial dancers from Be Fitness, Viva Dance Studio, sweet tunes from the award-winning Uno Lady, Taylor Lamborn, dance beats from SquareBiz, and so much more.
Like the previous Bals Ingenieux, Bal Aquatique, and the Time Traveler’s Bal, The Dreamer’s Bal makes reference to the historic masked bals of the Kokoon Club, who defined Cleveland’s raucous avant-garde art scene at the turn of the century.
“The Bal is a celebration of the authentic regional dreams and talents that have led us to this space and time,” says Emily Appelbaum, Artistic Director. “Once a bustling city of innovative manufacturing, Cleveland – and our little corner of history here at the Hamilton Collaborative – is re-awakening to find that the Made-in-Cleveland stamp, whether on a cast iron furnaces, a piece of craft furniture or an immersive art experience, still holds great value.”
The Dreamer’s Bal supports IngenuityFest 2019: Dreamscapes, held September 27-29 and celebrating its 15th year as a staple Cleveland event and its fourth year at the Hamilton Collaborative. Proceeds also support Ingenuity’s year-round programming including the IngenuityLabs small creative business incubator, the volunteer-driven arts group The Ingeneers, and the newly-launched Ignite! entrepreneurship education series.
General admission tickets are $25 ($35 at door) and include entry and food. VIP tickets are priced at $65 and include entry, food, two drink tickets, and a few special extras!
This event is ages 21 and up.
