Ingenuity is proud to support a Request for Proposals issued by Brite Winter and Arts Van Aken (AVA), the arts-based placemaking initiative of Shaker Heights Development Corporation (SHDC). We are seeking proposals from local and regional artists for the inaugural Winteractive, a free outdoor exhibition of interactive light art to be installed in and around the Van Aken District in February of 2019. Artists and designers are encouraged to submit ideas that use light-based contemporary sculptures and installations to bring the community together for an opportunity to interact with each other and the District during the coldest, darkest month of the year.
Up to five art installations will be accepted, with a focus on light as a primary medium and whose work creates opportunities for viewers to become participants in the exhibition. Whether a viewer can manipulate the artwork, or the artwork manipulates the viewer’s experience of space, some form of interactivity will be sought in the chosen works. Such encounters should support the notion of an inclusive, democratic space that connects and engages people of every demographic in Shaker Heights and its surrounding communities.
